Cost of using real nappies
Use washable nappies and you are likely to save
hundreds of pounds compared to the cost of using
disposables, even once the cost of washing them is
taken into account.
Nappy systems vary in price so the total amount you can
save will depend on the type and brand of nappy you
choose.
Once your child is out of nappies you can re-use them for
your next child or sell them on and save even more!
Don't throw your money away - use washable nappies!
Friends of the Earth estimate the cost of using cloth
nappies per annum per baby is only £40 including detergent,
water, electricity and wear & tear on washing machine.
You don’t have to go 100% cloth straight away – as long
as you have a bucket you can use as much or as little
as you like, perhaps just at night to start with.
Buying one or two of a nappy style/brand at a time
allows you to see what suits you best and helps
spread the cost long-term.
